Is mileage correction legal?
Yes, when it sets a replacement or faulty part to the vehicle’s genuine mileage. Hiding a mileage change when you sell a car is illegal, and we do not alter readings to misrepresent vehicle history. See our legal guide.
What proof of mileage do you need?
Usually your service history, MOT history or a recent invoice. We also read the mileage stored in the car’s other modules to confirm it.
Why does my replacement dash show the wrong mileage?
Second-hand clusters keep the mileage from the car they came out of, and new ones often start at zero. We write your car’s true figure into it.
Will my car fail its MOT with a faulty dash?
It can. Warning lights and the speedometer have to work properly, so a dead or faulty cluster is worth fixing before your test.
Is it better to repair or replace my instrument cluster?
Repairing is usually cheaper and keeps your car’s own data, keys and mileage. We’ll only suggest a replacement if your unit can’t be saved.
Do you come to me?
Yes. Almost all our work is done on your driveway, at your workplace or at the roadside anywhere in Lancashire.
How long does it take?
Most mileage, dash and key jobs take one to two hours. Bench repairs on a cluster may take a day.
How much does it cost?
Prices start from £30. Call with your registration and you’ll get a fixed price before we start.
Can you check a car I’m thinking of buying?
Yes. We can compare the mileage held in each module to spot a car that may have been clocked.
Can I visit your base?
Our base is at 89 St Marys Wharfe, Blackburn, but we’re usually out on call-outs, so please call first.
